Wagons
for Warriors was a dream, a wish, and then a mission. I am a "Vietnam-era
Navy veteran", and worked for the Department of Defense for 32 years. My
wife worked for the Department of Defense for 35 years. We both have a fierce
allegiance to our country and our Military. We have seen our friends, our comrades,
our defenders of freedom deploy and make sacrifices our whole lives. My first
chance to help work with the "Wounded Warriors" came when Mitch (a
Vietnam Veteran himself) and I were asked to go to San Antonio Texas, to help
feed the Wounded Warriors at Fort Sam Houston, the U. S. Army Medical Command.
What a humbling experience. We can never do enough to support or pay back the
debt I feel we owe to our Military personnel.
Mitch, Jeff, Glenn, and myself decided to have our own fund raiser for the Wounded
Warriors. We asked our friends from Texas, Oklahoma, Indiana, and Missouri to
help us put on a Chuckwagon feed to raise money for the Wounded Warriors, and
Wagons For Warriors was born. The response we got was overwhelming. Our mission
is simple, raise as much money as we can for the Wounded Warrior fund. I would
like to thank all the sponsors, volunteers, wagons, and Friend of the Fort for
your help and support. This could never be done without a team effort and the
help of everyone involved. If you would like to be a Sponsor, or volunteer to
help with Wagons for Warriors, you can e-mail me at

Thanks
This
year Wagons For Warriors will be held in the Laclede County Fair Ground Complex,
next to the Cowan Civic Center. In the event of rain there will be a pavilion
that will provide protection. It is scheduled for May 26. Wagons from Oklahoma,
Texas, and Missouri are just a few. This will be a major event with food and
fun for all.
